Overview

The New Worker Health & Safety Awareness eLearning Bundle provides essential health and safety knowledge for workers who are new to a job, industry, the Ontario workforce, or who are returning to work after an extended absence. The bundle provides approximately 4.5 hours of training designed to build awareness of common workplace hazards and support safer work practices. A certificate will be awarded once all training has been completed. 

What Topics Will Be Covered?

This eLearning bundle consists of five short eCourses (30 mins to an hour) and one three minute video on hazard recognition.  

 

Introduction to New Worker Health & Safety Awareness Bundle 

  • Program overview and learning pathway 

Health & Safety Awareness Training (OHSA) – Ontario Workers eCourse (1 hr) 

  • Worker rights and responsibilities 
  • Internal Responsibility System 
  • Workplace health and safety roles 

Hazard Recognition Video (3 mins) 

  • How to identify common workplace hazards 
  • Understand how to keep you and others safe at work 

WHMIS Awareness eCourse (30 mins) 

  • Introduction to WHMIS 
  • Hazardous products 
  • Labels, pictograms and Safety Data Sheets 
  • Introduction only and does not fulfill an employers obligation under the Act. 

Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSD) Prevention Awareness eCourse (1 hr) 

  • What is an MSD, how to spot common MSD hazards 
  • Prevention strategies and safe work practices 

Workplace Mental Health: Raising Awareness eCourse  (1 hr) 

  • Mental health awareness in the workplace 
  • Recognizing and responding to concerns 

Workplace Violence & Harassment Awareness eCourse (1 hr) 

  • Introduce the topic of violence and harassment in the workplace 
  • Explain the impact on the workplace 
  • Introduction only and does not fulfill an employers obligation under the Act.

  • Explain basic worker rights, responsibilities, and duties under Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).  
  • Recognize common workplace hazards and understand how injuries and illnesses can occur.  
  • Demonstrate awareness of WHMIS labels, pictograms, and safety information.  
  • Identify risk factors associated with musculoskeletal disorders and methods for prevention.  
  • Recognize workplace mental health concerns and understand available supports.  
  • Identify workplace violence and harassment hazards and understand reporting responsibilities.  
  • Apply basic health and safety awareness knowledge to support safer workplace behaviours.
