This session will empower you with knowledge and tools to improve road safety in the agricultural sector. Those attending will receive a copy of WSPS' ATV & UTV Utility Task/Terrain Vehicles (UTV) Safety in Agriculture guide:
- Provides comprehensive guidance on the safe use of all terrain vehicles (ATVs) and utility task/terrain vehicles (UTVs) in agricultural workplaces.
- Explains ATV and UTV types, uses, and common hazards in the agriculture sector.
- Summarizes injury statistics and outlines applicable Ontario legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Defines employer and supervisor responsibilities for ATV/UTV safety.
- Offers guidance on where ATVs and UTVs may be operated and key legal requirements.
- Covers safe operating practices, pre and post use inspections, load handling, maintenance, and PPE.
- Includes information on incident reporting, hand signals, and trail signs.
- Helps employers develop safe work procedures, train and supervise workers, identify and control hazards, and reinforce safe operating practices to reduce the risk of incidents and injuries.
- OPP will provide a hands-on demonstration of ATV/UTV Safety
- OPP & MTO will be there to provide guidance on commercial vehicle safety questions
