This course helps committee members and representatives in federally-regulated work places understand their duties and how they contribute to the internal responsibility system.

This course is a practical introduction to work place health and safety committees, health and safety representatives, and policy health and safety committees in Canadian federally-regulated work places. Learn how to fulfill your duties as a committee member or representative, as specified in the Canada Labour Code, Part II. Health and safety legislation in Canada, including the Code, is based on the principle of internal responsibility. This system recognizes that the employer and employees have a shared responsibility for work place health and safety.
Average time to complete this course is about 60 minutes.

This course focuses on the knowledge required by paragraph 125.(1)(z.01) of the Canada Labour Code, Part II. Learners should have a strong foundational knowledge of the Code prior to taking this course.
CCOHS’ course, Canada Labour Code, Part II: An Overview, introduces the requirements of the Code and how it is applied, as required by paragraph 19.6(1)(a) of the Canada Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
