Who Needs JHSC Certification?

Under the Occupational Health & Safety Act in Ontario, most workplaces with 20 or more employees require a Joint Health and Safety Commitee with 2 people certified

JHSC Certification is a two-step training process

Part Two builds on what you've learned in Part One and is the final step to becoming a certified member of a Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC). Committee members become certified after completing BOTH Part One and Part Two training.

This training meets the learning objectives outlined in the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) JHSC Certification Training Program Standard, which took effect on March 1, 2016.

Visit the JHSC Certification Training Overview page for more information on the Certification pathway.

JHSC Certification Part 2 Training Overview
For the Agriculture Sector

This highly interactive and engaging 2-day Part Two training is based on the Certification Training Program Standard and takes JHSC members on a journey.

The focus is on strengthening participants' understanding of the RACE process (Recognition, Assessment, Control and Evaluation) so they can apply this to ALL hazards in their workplace, not just those covered in the course.

This training is delivered by experienced health and safety experts that know your industry and the risks you face.

WSPS virtual courses are delivered via Microsoft Teams Meetings. Platform specifics will be communicated at time of registration.

NOTE: Due to requirements of the current JHSC Certification Training Standards, JHSC members need to complete Part 2 within 12 months of taking Part 1, or they will be required to repeat the Part One training in order to be certified.

The minimum requirement for JHSC Certification Part Two training is two days (or 13 hours). All participants must meet the minimum training requirement to successfully complete the program. If portions of the program are missed, the participant will be required to retake the training.
